Weld mounting for flat roofs

Systems designed for flat roofs have traditionally faced several challenges, such as penetrating the roof surface, the use of heavy ballast blocks, the shifting of panel arrays over time, and the significant additional load they place on the roof. The RAULI FLAT mounting system utilizes a new attachment method that provides a solution to these problems.

RAULI FLAT is attached to the roof surface by heat welding. We do not offer a ballast-based option. The installation is always waterproof.

One of the most significant advantages of this method is that welding avoids penetrating the roof surface, understandably one of the biggest concerns with roof installations.

The attachment is done by welding a piece of bitumen felt to the roof. Even if the plate is mechanically fastened with screws to the roofing (e.g., on certain types of element roofs), a strip of felt is welded over it, covering the plate and the screw locations in accordance with regulations. This classifies the installation as fully waterproof after the welding process. The bolts that come through the felt are sealed with an EPDM rubber sealing washer. The result is a waterproof, durable installation that respects the roof's lifespan.

This heat-welded method is also approved by roofing manufacturers.

A Solid and Reliable Attachment.

Even if the system is not fastened with screws, its attachment is extremely strong and reliable. The meticulously designed and tested mounting method ensures that the racks and panels remain securely in place, even in high winds and under heavy snow loads. This gives the property owner peace of mind for decades to come.

Thanks to the weld-on attachment, the solar panels will not "creep" or shift out of place over time. This is a common problem with ballast-based systems, but the fixed installation of RAULI FLAT eliminates this risk.

No Ballast Required.

Traditionally, solar panel systems on flat roofs have been held in place with large concrete ballast blocks. This has meant lifting and moving thousands of kilograms on the roof, which is slow, laborious, and expensive. Thanks to the welding method, the RAULI FLAT system requires no ballast at all. This results in significant savings in labour time and costs. The installation is faster and safer without the need to handle heavy loads on the roof.

Reduced Load on the Roof

Eliminating ballast not only speeds up installation but also significantly reduces the load on the roof. In Nordic countries, roofs must already withstand heavy snow loads during the winter. Thousands of kilograms of additional weight from a solar panel system can be too much for many roof structures.

By utilizing the RAULI FLAT system, the dead weight of the solar panel installation is extremely low, only about 10 kg/m². This is a huge difference compared to ballast-based systems, where the weight can be many times greater. The lower load ensures that the roof's load-bearing capacity is not exceeded, even during the heaviest snowfalls.

RAULI FLAT is designed and manufactured for demanding Nordic conditions. The system comes with a 30-year warranty, which speaks to its quality and durability. By choosing RAULI FLAT, you can be confident that your solar panel system is installed safely and professionally.
