The RAULI WALL System: Foundation for the 360 kWp Solar Facade at Mylly Shopping Centre

The massive southern facade of the Mylly Shopping Centre in Raisio, Finland, is now a power plant, consisting of 875 solar panels that generate clean electricity directly for the shopping centre's needs. This is the second largest wall-mounted solar panel systems in Finland, and the RAULI WALL mounting system played a crucial role in its implementation. The project serves as an excellent example of how large commercial building facades can be utilized to produce clean, renewable energy.

The total peak power of the wall-mounted system is 360 kWp. The demanding, large-scale installation was carried out by the expert energy company, Energio Finland Oy.

RAULI WALL: A Reliable Foundation for Solar Facades

Installing solar panels vertically on a wall presents unique challenges for the mounting system. The system must withstand varying weather conditions, wind loads, and the specific requirements of the facade structure, all without compromising safety or installation efficiency.

Advantages of the RAULI WALL system in this project:

• Durability and a 30-Year Warranty: The system is engineered to withstand demanding weather conditions.

• Installation Efficiency: RAULI WALL enables the fast and safe installation, which is crucial in large-scale projects.

• High-Quality Engineering: The RAULI WALL system is a product of top-tier engineering, focused on reliability and performance.

Wall mounting itself is a highly effective solution, as it can maximize energy production during the winter months when the sun is low in the sky. Furthermore, snow does not accumulate on the vertical surface, which eliminates one of the most significant causes of production downtime.

Clean Energy and Significant Emission Reductions

The estimated production of the Mylly Shopping Centre's solar power plant are substantial. The following calculations are estimates based on industry-standard models and national emission factors.

Estimated Annual Energy Production: ~320,000 kWh

Based on the European Commission's Photovoltaic Geographical Information System (PVGIS) model, the 360 kWp system in Raisio is estimated to generate approximately 320,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity annually. This production estimate accounts for the location, the vertical 90° installation angle of the panels, the southern orientation, and typical system losses.

Conclusion: Pioneering Spirit and Reliable Technology

The solar facade at Mylly Shopping Centre is more than an investment in renewable energy; it is a demonstration of future construction, where every surface can be intelligently utilized. The project proves that with the right partners and technical solutions like the RAULI WALL mounting system, impressive and highly productive solar energy solutions can be implemented effectively.
